Dr Alithea Binnie is an academic who is satisfied with her voice and is a person who puts a lot of value on reason. While in Istanbul to attend a conference, she happens to meet the Djinn who offers her three wishes in exchange for her release. This raises two issues. The first is that she doesn’t think it’s real, and the second is that she’s a good connoisseur of stories and mythology, so she’s aware of all the wish stories that ended badly. Djinn tries to convince her by telling her fantastic stories from his past. In the end, she allows herself to be convinced and makes a wish that surprises both of them.
