Hidden away from the real world is Barbie Land, where Barbie and Ken dolls, along with other dolls like Allan and Midge, live. The Barbie dolls rule in Barbieland in a matriarchal system and occupy high career positions, while the Kenis spend time as useless subordinates living in the shadow of the Barbie dolls. Beach Ken has feelings for Stereotypical Barbie and constantly tries to get her attention, but she ignores him. During a dance party at her house, Barbie (The Stereotype) suddenly begins to question her own mortality. The next day, Barbie suffers an existential crisis, going through a series of unfortunate events, including the appearance of blemishes on her perfect skin and the flatness of her arched feet. The other Barbies suggest that she visit Weird Barbie who tells her that the human girl playing with her is unhappy. To solve her crisis, Barbie must travel to the real world, find the girl and help her.
