The Miseducation of Cameron Post (2018) follows the story of Cameron Post, a 12-year-old girl in Montana, whose parents die in a car accident, while she discovers her own homosexuality. Later, her conservative aunt, Ruth, and the paternal grandmother come to live with her in Miles City, Montana. Cameron develops a relationship with her girlfriend, Coley Taylor, and ultimately reveals her homosexuality. It is quickly shipped to a conversion therapy center that treats teenagers “struggling with same-sex attraction” and promises to teach them “appropriate gender roles.” At the center, Cameron is subject to extraordinary discipline, methods of changing sexual orientation, and lifestyle restrictions, but this strange frame also gives him an unusual gay community. For the first time, Cameron connects with his colleagues and finds his place among them.
