Based on Nicholas Searle’s novel, The Good Liar (2019) follows the story of a professional scammer, Roy Courtnay, who believes he has the perfect target when he meets Betty McLeish, a wealthy widow online. After a long criminal career, Elder Roy meets a naive widow while browsing an online dating site. What Roy doesn’t know is that the woman herself has a secret past that can upset her plans. As Betty opens her soul and door to the house, the two share the seemingly quiet life of a retired couple. However, what surprises Roy is that he begins to develop feelings for Betty, turning what should be a scam into the most dangerous choice of his career. What should have been a light scam becomes the most delicate mission that will put his entire career at stake, causing him to rethink his entire life.
