In Dresden, in 1937, the young Kurt Barnet visits, thanks to his aunt Elisabeth, the exhibition titled Degenerated Art, organized by the Nazi regime. On this occasion, Kurt discovers his vocation as a painter. 10 years later, a student of Fine Arts, Kurt fails to adapt to the dictates of the Socialist regime. In the desperate attempt to find his way and affirm his style, he falls madly in love with Ellie. But Kurt does not know that her father, Professor Seeband, an influential physician, is linked to him by a terrible past.
