Laura, a single mother who lives in Seattle, has a constant need to put others in front of her. When her estranged father, Jack, is kicked out of the nursing home, Laura has to lead him to the other side of the country to live with her sister, JoJo. Along the road is accompanied by cleverness, but her problematic son, Henry, and a variety of charitable animal actions. Without telling the Laura, Jack persuades Henry to help him sell his marijuana supplies every time they stop their journey, which leads to unexpected meetings with old friends and relatives. However, the trip changes direction when Henry asks for his father, Leonard, to lose a summer, putting the Laura’s attempt to keep his family together and eventually forcing it to see in her father the man who really is.
