In England in the 1840s, paleontologist Mary Anning and a young woman sent by her husband to convince themselves at sea develop an intense relationship. Despite the gap between their social spheres and personalities, Mary and Charlotte discover that each can offer what the other has sought: the realization that they are not alone.
