Frederik Wulff, an ambitious young man, is sent by the king to start a coffee plantation in a colony. Reached, Wulff finds that there are three employees Danish fort, a governor ill, his deputy and an unscrupulous merchant. Nearby lives a couple of missionaries who are determined to convert them to the CHRISTIAN locals. Wulff begin work on the plantation but due to repeated attacks of the Ashanti tribe members is forced to ask the help of a local named Henrich Richter. When he discovers that still practice even if the export of slaves was banned by the Danish State in 1792, Wulff finds himself fighting against powerful interests.
