With the end of the Civil War soldier Wade (James Badge Dale) returns home in search of “peace”. He appears at his brother’s house, Seamus (Ethan Embrey), and is welcomed with open arms by Agibail niece (Maika Monroe) and grandson Samuel (Owen Teague), which they consider their favorite uncle. Shortly after his arrival, Wade discovers that his family has some conflicts with neighbors. Randolph McCluskey (William Forsythe) is a harsh man who lost his son in the war, and his wife locked themselves to the production of that tragedy.
